Venture Southland provides Tourism, Events, Enterprise and Community Development services for Southland.
Venture Southland is seeking an experienced and responsible person to manage the Invercargill i-Site Visitor Centre (based at the Southland Museum & Art Gallery).
The Manager will be responsible for the overall operation of the i-SITE to ensure the i-SITE provides accurate and objective information on local and regional visitor attractions to visitors. The role also includes working with operators/industry partners to develop business opportunities for the i-SITE that achieve sales and revenue targets (for both visitors and industry partners).
Applicants need to possess:
• Experience in managing staff
• An outgoing and friendly personality
• An ability to maintain a fresh and positive sales environment and develop new leads
• An ability to maintain good working relationships with tourism operators and others in the visitor industry
• Experience in monthly and annual accounting procedures and reporting
• Experience in the use of the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel & Outlook
Additional skills that are desirable but not essential include:
• An excellent knowledge of key Southland visitor attractions and a good knowledge of key national attractions
• Experience in using travel booking systems
• Strong negotiation skills
• Ability and confidence to present to both small and large groups
• Understanding of travel distribution channels and commission structures
The i-SITE is open for seven days a week with hours extended outside normal office hours during the summer months. A range of tenure and flexible employment arrangements will be considered. The salary payable will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
