The Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) has a proud history of vocational education and training and is located in Invercargill, New Zealand with smaller campuses in both Christchurch and Gore. SIT has over 400 employees and around 13,000 students.
For over 35 years SIT has been providing students with quality education across a range of subject areas and at a variety of levels. SIT offers over 130 programmes including certificates, diplomas, degrees and post graduate study, as well as SIT2LRN flexible learning. The variety enables you to enter your training at the level that suits you and progress as you are ready. Many of our programmes staircase to higher level qualifications at SIT and other institutions in New Zealand and throughout the world. We are constantly developing these relationships to ensure that our graduates have maximum mobility.
The Southland community recognises the need for a highly qualified and skilled workforce for New Zealand's economic and social development and so has taken an innovative approach to education by offering a Zero Fee Scheme. Students can study without incurring tuition fees thus maximising their opportunities whilst minimising their debt. The Zero Fees Scheme has enhanced educational opportunities for all students including nontraditional users of tertiary education as it applies to both on campus and our SIT2LRN study anywhere learning programmes. It allows New Zealand citizens, Australian citizens while residing in New Zealand, or permanent residents the opportunity to study approved programmes without paying tuition fees.
SIT and Southland offers variety, a superb student culture and a friendly atmosphere. However our real drawcard is the southern hospitality and unique outdoors, full of adventure and recreation opportunities through to extreme sports challenges. Combine this with the competitive cost of living and whether or not you come to work or to study, SIT is a choice worth making. We look forward to you joining us soon!
